Brunch is ubiquitous to the UAE but not something we grew up with. The South Africans have braai’s (at home with friends and family); the Portuguese weekend (and weekday) can also revolve around food and family but both for the most part are at home affairs not pool side at some of the world’s most amazing hotels. So, brunching in the UAE has been a bit of a culture shock for us and probably one of the things it has taken the longest for us to acclimatize to. After our recent brunch at Lapita Hotel however, I can honestly say we may have started a new family tradition 🙂
Lapita Hotel is recently opened at Dubai Parks and Resorts and the Daycation Brunch is hosted by the on premise, casual Kalea restaurant. Signposting along the way is not great, but there really aren’t that many options so you’re unlikely to get lost. If coming from Dubai, follow the signs to the VIP Parking at Dubai Parks and Resorts and then head towards Outlet Village. Valet Parking is complimentary and the welcoming committee is amazing – you’ll feel right at home!
The brunch is a buffet with International cuisine catering to all tastes – everyone in our family found loads of scrumptious dishes and we’re a particularly fussy bunch! All cold dishes are located in doors and include salad bars, sushi, fresh seafood and mountains of desserts. Joshua’s highlight was right on entering when he spotted the Candykool, sub-zero popcorn.
Outdoors, you’ll find a substantial spread of grills, curries, Dim Sum and vegetarian options. Our favourite would be the Butter Chicken which I will categorically say is the best I have had in Dubai!
The brunch includes the option of adding on a house beverage package if you would like to enjoy the alcoholic selection. Drinks include a couple of beer selections, wine, and two cocktail varieties (Rum or Vodka based). Mocktail options are also available.
We happily lost the kids to the entertainment area for a good couple of hours which was just what the Doctor ordered with all the travel and visitor activity that’s been going on for the last few weeks! Joshua made a beeline for the Foosball table and am pretty sure he spent most of his time there. The activities catered nicely to various ages and included; face painting (because it’s not a party unless there is face painting), sack races, hula hoops, air hockey and a snooker table. The area was supervised and if you grab a table outside you can keep one eye on the kids while enjoying actual, uninterrupted adult conversation.
The kids’ area is catered with healthy options and some yummy treats but be warned that if left to scavenge for themselves, this is what they may return with 🙂
The Ultimate DayCation:
Bellies were sorted, kids were enamoured, it was a great day out. Had the two monkeys not been a bit ill the added all-day pool access would have been the cherry on the top. In between trips to the dessert table, remember to enjoy a relaxing back massage and just chill to the live entertainment.
The UAE Mom Bloggers were out in full force at this brunch so head over to see what the clan from Our Globetrotters, Mummy on My Mind, Cuddles and Crumbs, Ayu Tanimoto and My Yellow Bells had to say about their experience!
The Brunch happens every Friday from 1pm through till 5pm and costing is as follows:
Adults: AED 195 (with soft beverages) OR AED 295 (with House beverages)
Kids under 12: AED 95
There is currently a special launch offer for Friday, 3rd March 2017 where for a refreshing change, adults eat FREE! Costing is then as follows: AED 95 for kids until 12 years (One adult per child eats free). Moms and Dads can then add the beverage package on for AED 150.
If you’re planning on attending, I would recommend you book your spot before hand by either giving them a call on 04 810 9999 or drop them an email on email@example.com.
Note: We were invited to attend the launch of this event at no cost to ourselves, we still had a blast though and this is us sharing our experience! We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
